All of our teachers are fully qualified early childhood teachers
Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou. Kia ora, my name is Helen Aitken. I have been involved in the early
childhood sector for 25 years, working both as a lecturer in tertiary (Initial Teacher Education) and
directly with young children. I have been a teacher at Cambridge Rd Community Kindergarten since
2016 and love the fact that we are a community-led, non-profit service that places children and their
whānau at the centre of our curriculum and what we do.
No day is ever the same! I am passionate
about enhancing Te Ao Māori and te reo Māori and responding to cultural diversity. I also have a
keen interest in transitions, children’s language and literacy development, working and being in
nature, and am inspired by the approaches from Reggio Emilia and how they can be interpreted in
the context of Aoteraoa New Zealand.
Kia Ora my name is Donna, I am an experienced passionate Teacher who has worked in Early
Education for 20 years.
Establishing and maintaining positive relationships are at the fore front of my values and is a
strength in my practice. It is through warm, caring interactions with children where belonging and
wellbeing are established, I am able to enjoy learning about children’s individual interests, talents
and abilities and their personalities can be enjoyed and celebrated. I know how important children’s earliest years are as the foundations for life, success and happiness. I have a strong passion that the environment plays a critical role. The environment needs to be welcoming and inviting where children and families feel a “sense of being at home”. For children an
environment that provokes curiosity, wonder, exploration and excitement, where learning naturally
Kia Ora, I’m Danno and I have been in Early Childhood now for 8 years. Previously, I was an Aircraft Engineer, working on, teaching about and building aircraft both in NZ and overseas (I worked for 10 years in Saudi Arabia).
Consequently, I am well-travelled and have taught and lived in different cultures.
I have a passion for the outdoors and sports and a mechanical aptitude that underlines my practice.
I have a respectful and explorative nature and this comes through in my teaching.
I really love that we have a nature programme in our centre, exploring nature, tweaking curiosity
and incorporating safe risks and challenges!
Hi I'm Lisa and I have worked at the Kindergarten for 15 years. I have a Bachelor in Social Science and have a real understanding of the Kindergarten not only as Administrator, but as a parent whose children have attended this Kindergarten. I served as a committee member, and now work as our Treasurer. I love the variety of work that comes with my role, and enjoy contact with the children, parents & caregivers and of course the teachers, who create such a welcoming, friendly environment to work in.
I work part-time and in my spare time I teach Nia, a form of dance that incorporates martial arts, yoga, & dance.
If you have any questions, feel free to approach me in the office.
